Hello, I am Demet and I am currently carrying out my ESC volunteering project in Wörgl, Austria. With the month of April, I left half of my project behind. I generally work in youth centers, but in addition to these, I am also involved in other projects undertaken by my organization here. I study and help with their homework, and sometimes I support immigrant women at the Frauecafe and help them learn German.
In March, together with my other volunteer friend here, we organized a Turkish food night at Dinnerclub and realized our own project. You can prepare and present a menu voluntarily at this night organized by my organization once a month. In addition to such activities, I also have the opportunity to participate in various events or workshops organized by my own organization and other organizations here, so I can meet other volunteers and learn new things. We published our live-podcast. It was a workshop that I experienced for the first time and had a lot of fun.
I have 6 more months to spend here and I’m sure I will continue to have fun in the same way. It’s a great feeling to experience the ESC project and get to know other cultures and people and spend time with them. This project is like a break for me before my master’s applications and I don’t regret doing it. Fortunately, I have this experience with the Youth Work Association and my organization here, Kommunity.
