Mehmet Ali’s Erasmus+ Experience in Belgium #developtogether

I want to share my experience about the KA2 Project that I feel so lucky to be part of (Cooperation for Innovation and the Exchange of Good Practices, Capacity Building in the field of Youth) called #developtogether

I and my lovely two friends along with people from 8 different countries discussed NEET around the world.

NEET is the definition of young people with fewer opportunities that is very broad – on purpose. The realities of the different countries around Europe (and sometimes of regions within these countries) are too diverse to have a very specific definition. e.g. a ‘poor’ person in Scandinavia might be considered ‘rich’ in Eastern Europe, a gay person in Cologne probably faces less discrimination than in a small countryside village in the Balkans, and so on.

Young people with fewer opportunities are young people who, largely due to their personal situation and sometimes also due to the choices they make, face different and/or more difficult obstacles in their lives than other young people.
In many cases, individuals may fit into several of the categories described above at the same time (e.g. a teenage mother who lives in a remote village and who suffers from alcoholism). This compounds their difficulties still further.

Our goal was to raise the professionalization of youth work by supporting youth organizations to develop competencies to recognize, train and validate top skills of NEETs that are most relevant for employability, and better social integration on both national and European levels.

We focused on the main 6 reasons why this problem exists and we created solutions for it. While we were doing that we had a chance to meet beautiful people from around the world. It is a really wonderful experience to see people from different cultures, different languages different beliefs can come up and make an effort to make this world a better place for everyone.
